Helping apprentices progress into Higher Education

Closely linked to skills, employers are looking for the right kind of ‘attitudes’. People showing positive attitudes (see below) are more likely to be successful in their careers.

Resilience is about not giving up. Keep trying (persevering) if you get a knock back. Have a fighting spirit and be confident in your abilities.

Can you work as part of a team? Being cooperative is about working well with others to achieve a common goal.

Create your own destiny. Life is here and now and you should aim to be the best you can. What are your career plans? Think about ‘new jobs’ as well as existing ones. Aim high!

Think about what YOU want to do. Research your ideas and look at your options. If you’re going for an interview, be prepared for questions. What makes you the best candidate.

Believe in yourself. Take the initiative.

Make the most of any work experience and other contacts with employers. Do you do any volunteering?

If you are motivated and enthusiastic you will potentially learn things more quickly.

Explore your real passion in life. Try to be a ‘can-do’ type of person.

Be on time – everytime. Be someone people can rely on. Take responsibility for your own actions.
